I am OBSESSED with unique variations like these for multiple reasons and have been known to preach the importance of changing up your routine. Yes, standard movements are extremely beneficial on their own. But, if you have ever found yourself hitting a plateau or you’re just not seeing the definition you want IT’S TIME FOR A CHANGE! Charge your body to engage different muscles. Energize muscles that you haven’t felt before. Start toning those difficult places you have always dreamed about.

Performing circuits like this “Office Workout” keeps me wanting more. My workouts stay fresh, exciting and fun. Nobody wants to do the same thing over and over again. Ask Albert Einstein and he’ll tell you what the definition of insanity is: “doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”

NO GYM? NO PROBLEM! TRY THIS “WASHCLOTH WORKOUT”!

“Gliding Discs” are an awesome way to perform a total body workout. Typically, they are double-sided for versatility and work on both carpet and hard surfaces. From lunges and squats to upper-body exercises, you are guaranteed to target specific muscle groups and tone your entire body! Personally, I don’t own these yet so I’ve made my own version using washcloths. They are the PERFECT alternative and I’m loving the results of my workouts. If you don’t have hardwood floors, no problem. Grab a couple paper plates.

Once upon a time…
It’s go time. You’re standing in the middle of the gym contemplating where to head first. It’s no surprise that the gym is overcrowded with what may seem like a thousand people. After all, it is Saturday. Grrrr…bulging muscle head dudes, supermodels and the seventeen year-old Little Miss Perfects. Come on, decide already! Free weights? Machines? How about those intriguing gadgets crossfitters use that you wouldn’t know what to do with anyway? As you carefully scan each section of the gym, as if you’re now a part of the secret service, you make eye contact with a man that clearly could be the next Christian Grey. Crap! Look away. Look down. DO SOMETHING! Phone, phone, where’s my fricking phone?!

When it comes to burpees, many would agree that it’s a true love-hate relationship. Why?

Love:
Burpees are one of the single most amazing exercises on the planet and are highly respected within the fitness community. They require extreme effort using just your body weight and can be done anywhere at anytime. Known for their powerful results, burpees will challenge every muscle in your body. They are an intense combination of both strength training and cardio training which makes them a popular choice by all military forces, crossfit aficionados, extreme athletes, and fitness junkies. In fact, a 10 minute burpee session alone can burn approximately 100 calories. I’m positive you have heard the saying “sweat is fat crying”, right? Perhaps “calorie murdering” is more like it. continue reading

I’m always excited to try new exercises that challenge both my body and new muscle groups. This was yesterday’s workout. Awesome workout – no gym required! Just stairs, the great outdoors and me. It was super hard, and definitely challenging as it required stability, coordination and body strength.

It’s absolutely imperative that during any workout routine you remain 100% focused on your technique and form. Mastering both should be your ultimate goal first, then speed and reps second. Poor form may result in bodily injuries, so trust me when I say “focus”! Plus, proper form guarantees an awesome workout and maximum results.
